Unlike your average supercar driver, the owner of this car uses it as his daily drive and races it in the Toyota races series against my mum's friend. The Celica doesn't seem to attract the usual vandalism your average Porsche driver gets, nor does it cause problems when parking. Its as practical as your everyday sports car, mainly because it is an everyday sports car. There was one other benefit that I may not have mentioned the big A for Acceleration; it does 0 to 150mph in 10 seconds and 0 to 202mph in 28 seconds. Maxing out your car normally requires miles upon miles of road to hit top speeds, the Celica hit 200mph on one mile of RAF airbase runway with a few slicks of spilt aircraft fuel to add to the excitement. So forget your wind tunnels and technology centres that make the Apache helicopter gunships and the Lamborghini Reventóns, go down to Homebase and buy yourself a shed and a second hand Celica.

Who needs supercars?
Motoring history books will tell you that the prestigious 200mph club is the holy grail for all car manufacturers, some of its current members include Ferrari, Lamborghini, Koenigsegg, Bugatti and Chevrolet (as in the Corvette ZR1 not the Matiz). But what if you can't afford the financial burden that comes with these prestigious marques? In the words of the talking meerkat off the telly; "Simples!" All you need is a second hand Toyota Celica GTX which you can pick up for about £5k plus a turbo running at 2.4bar; which makes the engine spin at 8100 revs per minute, causing it to churn out over 700 bhp.
